It May Be 110° in Phoenix…But It’s Already Beginning to Look a Lot Like ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo!
While most Valley residents are seeking shade and air conditioning, the Phoenix Zoo’s ZooLights crew is hard at work prepping for the most magical time of the year. That’s right - despite triple-digit temperatures, ZooLights installation is already underway!
With more than 4 million lights, hundreds of custom-designed light structures, and dozens of large-scale illuminated lanterns, it takes months of behind-the-scenes labor to bring Arizona’s favorite holiday tradition to life.
To beat the blistering summer heat, crews have been working overnight - up in lifts, among the trees, carefully stringing lights and assembling glowing displays under the stars. ZooLights officially returns this November, but the magic starts now, even in the middle of a Phoenix summer.
