Drunk Shakespeare Society Sets Sail in Phoenix with All-New Show, Drunk Pirates
A Boozy, High-Seas Comedy Adapted from Treasure Island Opens for a Limited 12-week Run
The Drunk Shakespeare Society is setting sail in Phoenix with its newest production, “Drunk Pirates,” a high-energy, alcohol-infused comedy adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island.” The show will open from June 10 for a limited 12-week run at The Rose Theater.
The production follows a crew of pirates in pursuit of Captain Flint’s lost treasure — with one major twist: one professional actor consumes five shots of rum before attempting to perform a leading role. What unfolds is a fast-paced, unpredictable performance filled with improvisation, audience interaction and unexpected chaos.
As Jim Hawkins boards the Hispaniola alongside Long John Silver and a crew of questionable pirates, alliances shift, sword fights break out and the storyline veers hilariously off course.
Performances take place at the Rose Theatre, 455 N 3rd St Ste 1010 Phoenix.
Tickets start at $49, with seating options including balcony ($49), mezzanine ($69) and stage side ($89). A premium “Royal Experience for Two” is also available for $500 and includes VIP throne seating, a bottle of champagne, two handcrafted cocktails, curated treats and the opportunity to influence the performance.
Craft cocktails and snacks are available for purchase during all performances.
